Eminem: “Despicable (Freestyle)” and “Not Afraid”

Hey everyone – if you didn’t know I’m a huge Eminem fan. He released Relapse a year ago and Relapse 2 was supposed to come out in November 2009. So I’ve been anticipating that one for a while. Well, some new information for Eminem fans in case you aren’t aware. He has two new songs out right now (including appearances in songs like B.o.B’s “Airplanes” ft. Hayley Williams and earlier than that a verse in “Forever” by Drake ft. Kanye West and Lil Wayne.

Em’s pushed the album back a bunch of times but finally it has a scheduled release date. Eminem changed the name of the album to “Recovery” (from Relapse 2) after a complete change in direction due to working with such a variety of artists and producers. The entire “Recovery” album has a new and fresh perspective from his initial work on Relapse 2, hence the delay in release from late 2009 to now. The album’s supposed to drop at the end of June.

So the point of all this is.. here’s the new music!

Hey all.

Great track here in my opinion. I like B.o.B, he’s an up and coming rapper from Atlanta. He has a few other songs that I like, his debut album drops on the 27th of April. Hayley Williams is the lead singer from the group Paramore. They sampled the hook from another song but Hayley sounds amazing on it. And Eminem is one of my favourite rappers of all time – his verse is hot.

The Game: Bang Along

This is unrelated – but I’m on a bit of a Ludacris kick right now. Expect to see reviews in the near future for a few of his other CDs, probably ‘Theatre of the Mind’, and maybe his newest as well, ‘Battle of the Sexes’. Anyways, moving forward.

This is another song post – it doesn’t have a video to it though. It’s by The Game and is called “Bang Along”. I found this track when it first came out last May, so nearly a year ago. I hadn’t heard it in a long time though and found it again just recently. The ice cream truck beat is pretty sick haha.. it’s still West Coast gangsta-rap Game, but it has a laid back, chill feel to it. The actual sample is from The Impressions 1985 song “People Get Ready”.

Also for anybody interested in The Game, his fourth studio album entitled “The R.E.D Album” will be released on April, 20th this year (4/20! haha). The album’s first two singles have been released, “Krazy” ft. Guicci Mane and Timbaland and “Big Money”. Apparently the Game has a track with Justin Timberlake on his new album.. interesting.

Finally, shout out to Boi-1-da, who is producing on Game’s new album. Boi-1-da is a hip hop producer from Toronto, Ontario Canada and is one of the most sought after Canadian producers right now.. keep doin’ your thing for Canada!

Ludacris: Drinkin’ and Drivin’ (ft. Young Jeezy)

Just a quick post, I wanted to throw a song up. There is not a video for this song – so unfortunately it’s just a picture when you click on the Youtube link. Also, this song is not finished, it’s just one verse and the chorus.

However, the song is “Drinkin’ and Drivin” by Ludacris ft. Young Jeezy on the hook. I first heard this song about a year ago and couldn’t stop listening to it.. I haven’t heard it recently though so I thought I would find it again. I think this is my favourite Ludacris verse that I’ve heard from him. He’s one of the best in the hip hop game and very underrated. Too bad this song was never, or has yet to be finished.

Just for the record, I don’t condone drinking or doin’ drugs and driving.
It’s a catchy song though.

Jordan Burnell: My Home Town (Video)

Hey everyone.

This video was done by some home town friends of mine. I’m originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and my buddy, Jordan Burnell, wrote this rap for our city. The lyrics touch home with me and it’s a pretty sick song so I thought that I should share it and see what the rest of you think.

A high school friend, Matt Popowich filmed and edited the video – did an amazing job as well. The beat is sick and first perfectly, it’s a sample of the song “Hometown Glory” by artist Adele. Please check out the video and show some support for a local talent and a friend of mine!

Felix Zenger: Beatbox (Video)

Hey everyone – this is a cool video I found a little while back. This is a beatbox video done by a Finnish artist named Felix Zenger. If you don’t know what beatboxing is – essentially it’s using your mouth and voice to imitate musical instruments, drums, percussion, scratches, etc. and to freestyle beats with his voice.

This is a really cool “music video” of him freestyle beatboxing a beat. It’s insane how you can use your voice to recreate musical patterns and sounds, he does a sick job though and the sound and video is very high quality. Definitely check this video out if you get a minute, he has a lot more videos posted on his Youtube and Myspace if you wanna check the link below. Let me know what you think.

And as a sidenote, I went to ta Classified concert (Canadian rapper) on the weekend, was the first show of the weekend at the start of his new tour. If you are into hip hop and get a chance to check him out live – I highly recommend it!

Classified: No Mistakes (Official Video)

Okay, so this is my third Classified post in a row. That’s alright though – I’m excited to see him live tomorrow night, gonna be a good show. Hopefully if you’ve never heard of him.. and you’ve been checking out this blog, it’ll make you wanna check him out. He’s worth a listen to in my opinion.

Alright for the song today.. this is the official video for the song “No Mistakes” from the 2005 album Boy-Cott-In the Industry. It was a single from the album and is probably one of Class’ more recognizable songs (behind “All About You” and “Maritimes”). For any Canadians reading this – he won the award for MuchVibe’s “Best Rap Video” at the MuchMusic Video Awards that year.

This is also one of my favourite Classified songs ever – I’m still considering how/where I could get the phrase “Made some mistakes probably make more/Just how it happens when you’re tryin’ to go forward” tattoo’d.
