This post is a little out of character for my blog, but the Olympics are going on right now and I’m a Canadian myself so I’m following a little more closely this year. Alex Bilodeau is a Canadian Olympian moguls skier and he won a Gold medal in his event on Sunday. Not only was this the first Gold medal for Team Canada but also the first Gold medal that Canada has won on its on soil. We failed to win Gold at the Montreal Summer Olympics in 1976 and the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988.
So congratulations to Alex for making Canadian history!

There will be a new music review coming soon,
Cheers!
I realize I’m a few hours early.. but I’m heading out for a New Years party now.
Just thought I’d wish everyone a happy and safe New Years eve! I’ll be back at school in a couple days and will have a ton of more content to put on the web for any of you to read.
Happy New Years!

Hey I’m back with a quick update. I didn’t intend for this to be a news blog.. rather more focused on my tastes in music. However, as I find interesting music related tidbits I will post them. This is from CNN:
(CNN) — Rapper Lil Wayne was detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Texas on Friday after authorities found marijuana on two of his tour buses.
The marijuana on the buses was detected by drug dogs, said Agent Joe Trevino. The rapper, whose real name is DeWayne Michael Carter, Jr., was among a dozen being detained from his group. Trevino said the buses were en route to Laredo, Texas, from a concert stop in Hidalgo state. Calls to Carter’s representatives were not immediately returned Friday.
The Louisiana native was the 2008 best-selling artist, with 2.8 million records sold, and is signed to Cash Money Records. The rapper is scheduled to begin a prison sentence in February stemming from gun charges in New York.

Sucks for Wayne. For those who don’t know, he is scheduled to go to prison in February 2010 from weapons possession charges in New York. And now this – not a good end of 2009 for Lil Wayne.
Hey everyone.
I stumbled upon this site earlier today, it’s called SoulDrift. It’s an alternative music blog with a focus on rock and metal. The author, Sara, has been maintaining this blog since 2007 and the main goal is to share news, reviews and interviews in the alternative rock scene, and to bring new/unsigned bands to light & shed information on already established bands. Since I’ve started this blog I’ve been searching around other sites and blogs to find other people interested in the same types of music and that have similar ideas as myself. For anybody interested in finding new, good alternative rock music.. SoulDrift is definitely a blog you should be heading towards.
Although I don’t recognize a lot of the artists or music on SoulDrift, the blog is amazing. The layout, the content.. it’s an amazing looking blog and a great inspiration for myself and this blog. I love finding new music and new music blogs as professional, yet relateable as SoulDrift and I highly recommend everyone that sees this post to check it out. Hopefully in the future you will be able to witness this blog develop into something as creative and exciting as SoulDrift!
Cheers!
Just a quick post.. thought I’d pass this along.
This is a new song from Lil Wayne’s “Rebirth” album. Originally I thought it was supposed to be a rock album.. but this has more of a hip-hop “swagger” to it in my opinion. I guess even “Prom Queen” if you’ve heard it.. does have a hip hop swag to it. Anyways, this song features Eminem and he’s one of my fav rappers (him and Jay Z). I also love Wayne.. I saw him live last year.
Em rips into this hard and I like Wayne’s style on it. Not his normal whiny-self haha. As much as I love Wayne.. I get the hate.. he does whine and mumble.. but he’s still good and this is a sick song in my opinion.
Check the song out, credit to Rap Basement for the link!

Hey everyone,
While I’m online.. I thought I might as well put up a quick post about my new friends over at Decibel Blog. The idea for my blog started similar to how they started out. Originally, intended to post some music news and reviews on more indie music and getting it on the internet and available to the masses that had not heard it in the past. Although my music is more personal, rather than interested in finding indie music.. the ideas of our blogs have started out the same.
Decibel Blog started in January of 2009 and has “grown to include both new artists, underrated songs, and music news, all which help foster the music community by providing non-mainstream artists a way to reach the top.” (I stole that from their site.) Anyways – I have a link posted up under my “Blogroll” but you guys should check out Decibel Blog and the wealth of knowledge that they share.. it’s a great site and it comes highly suggested from me!
Cheers!
So this really is a useless post on my part.. and really just to say that I’m still alive and just buried in studying right now. I’ll be putting up some more music soon. I have an exam in the morning so maybe tomorrow night or in the next couple days, I’ll get some new content up on the web.
I do just want to say though – I checked my blog’s stats today and I’ve finally reached 200+ total views! For some people who see this, you might think.. big deal, 200 views. Well – considering that people have taken enough time out of their day to visit my site and get my counter up to that number.. that’s a cool feeling for me. I’d like to thank anyone who has visited or read any of my articles and would like to encourage you to keep following! Thanks again all!
Hey everyone – so who knew that there are exciting things out in the real world if you venture out of your house on a Monday afternoon.
So I was studying for my test on Tuesday (4th year International Politics..) and decided to smoke a joint and venture to the Pita Pit down the street to get some food. So as I’m waiting for my Pita to be made, I noticed the newest edition (200th edition, to be exact) of Exclaim! magazine. I guess it’s a free magazine across Canada. I briefly skimmed through a bit of it in Pita Pit but I haven’t had a chance to go through the whole edition yet.
I’m not familiar with Exclaim! at all.. I just saw it and picked it up today for the first time. I did a quick web search of the magazine and it’s a monthly print based out of Toronto, Canada. It started as a Ryerson University radio program.. this is from Wikipedia: “The magazine is distributed as a free publication in bars, record stores and coffee shops, in a manner similar to an alternative weekly newspaper, although it also offers mail delivery subscriptions. With Chart‘s decision to cease publication of its newsstand edition in January 2009, Exclaim! is now Canada’s only nationally-distributed general interest music magazine operating as a print publication.” Read the rest of this entry »
This is for Eminem enthusiasts.. I realize I’m a bit late with this post, however I thought I’d comment and pass this story along to anyone that hasn’t yet heard of Eminem’s recent announcement.
Em posted on his site about two weeks ago (Nov. 19) that Relapse 2, the sequel to his return to rap earlier in 2009 will be pushed back to next year. Instead, Eminem announced that he will first be releasing Relapse: The Refill on December 21. From what I’ve read, Eminem started working with other produces, such as Just Blaze and was getting an entirely different sound than he originally strived for. So essentially he scrapped Relapse 2 and started over with an entire new direction and new production (ie. it won’t be all Dre beats on the sequel).
Rather than scrapping all the songs that he’s made with Dre so far for Relapse 2, Eminem is going to re-release Relapse in December with 7 bonus songs that were all originally meant to go on Relapse 2. Read the rest of this entry »
